In this home we wanted to achieve a natural, rustic ranch vibe, while still being timeless and beautiful with more traditional elements. The home owners wanted the kitchen to be kid friendly and expansive for entertaining guests and enjoying meals around the large island. Instead of closing the kitchen in with uppers on both sides of the L-configuration, we opted for a large window at the kitchen sink to offer beautiful views of the property during all seasons and to allow natural light to flow through the space. In addition to the kitchen and interior design of the home, Melissa designed the floorplans and exterior look for this new build home, located on a farm property in Ancaster Ontario.
In the Kitchen, we selected KitchenAid appliances for its quality performance, professional look and value that it offers. Melissa and her clients selected a 36” French Door Standard Depth Refrigerator that features the ExtendFresh Produce Preserver, to keep produce fresher for longer by removing the ethylene gas that fruits and vegetables emit. The 30” Slide in Gas Range with front controls was selected for its higher end, professional look. The range features EvenHeat True Convection for optimal cooking, with a 5.8 cu.ft. large capacity cooking oven cavity, which was a must for our clients. (KSGG700ESS) The panel ready dishwasher blends seamlessly with the kitchen cabinets and a Sharp microwave drawer was included in the island base cabinets for its seamless look and performance. I like to incorporate the Sharp microwave drawer in my projects because my clients are always pleased with it since it looks great and offers several cooking features.
The cabinetry was custom designed in an off-white and stain glaze with a gorgeous moulded door front and the custom island has been roughed up to enhance the rustic look and feel. We chose a porcelain backsplash that represents earthy ledgestone but is more practical for maintenance and cleanability. Melissa and her clients selected Sienna Beige Granite slabs for the countertops, keeping with the traditional, yet rustic and natural concept.
